Zoey

Today is my 12 year wedding anniversary. I thought it appropriate to showcase the first little lady who was a celebration of mine and Neil's love and made me a mom. This is by far the most entertaining interview. I was laughing almost the entire time. This girl, is a chip off the old block. My Zoey is going to be 10 in May. It blows my mind that she has been on this earth almost an entire decade when it feels like not that long ago, I was changing her diapers and wondering what she would be like when she old enough to hold my hand while she walked. Now she's doing fractions, wearing high tops and leather jackets and talking on the phone with her friends. I love the person she is becoming. She sings non stop. She has a huge caring heart. She loves her sisters and me and Neil. She is a great friend. She loves school and cares about her grades. The girl reads non stop. (She once walked into a telephone pole while reading. It was very funny. I digress.)

When I ask her for help, she always gives it. When she is down, she never gives up. Honestly, she is just a great kid and I feel so fortunate that she is mine. I love you, Zoey. You are a Queen-forever and always.

******************************************************************************************************************

What is your name and how do we know each other?

"I am Zoey Pantig as you know and I came out of your hoo haw. Also, biologically..you are my mom. "(I’m dying internally).

How old are you?

"9"

What are you currently doing with yourself?

"I am going to school. Reading, doing homework...having fun..being a kid. My career is acting." (She says with flare).

Are you where you hoped you would be? If not/ Why? If so-what do you love about it and could you see yourself doing anything else?

"Yes I am where I hoped I would be right now. Well, I love that have books in my life. I have a love of reading. I love that I have a mom and dad because not all people have a mom and dad, and siblings. Even though they are as annoying as you know what..I still love them."

Women are becoming a resilient sound that cannot be silenced. What are you doing to contribute that sound?

"Well, not to brag….but I received an award for compassion and acceptance. I am showing others that women can be compassionate and accepting. "

What is something you learned from a younger age that has stuck with you?

"My passion to sing and to read. "

Who is an individual who made a profound impact on you and why?

"Well I have two impacts. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The other is Lizzo. Dr. King-He was one of the leaders for the Civil Rights movement. He showed the world that it doesn’t matter the color of your skin, race ethnicity...Anyone can be who they are meant to be and who they want to be. He was a voice for others who didn’t have that courage to stand up. Lizzo inspires me more to sing. She is a very powerful singer and there is a line in her song that I love the most..and it’s, 'I am my inspiration'. She is a very powerful individual and she has also has a voice in this world. Dr. King left and impact on me that people are people no matter who that are…'It matters not of the color of their skin but the content of their character'...Lizzo inspires me to sing more and she steps out of her comfort zone and she really shows her voice. And she literally 'is her inspiration.' (as sister is singing in the background “Love Yourself”)

What is a weakness or something that exposes your vulnerability and what do you do to combat/embrace it in order to grow?

"Well, Daddy kind of shows my vulnerability because he pushes my buttons..actually he doesn't push them, he slams them down. And when he pushes, I push back more. He has called me out for things that I shouldn’t be doing and he shows me how to improve . I try to learn from him and improve the next time an incident happens. "

What is something that you want to accomplish and what are you doing to get to that place, if anything?

"Well..I want to be a singer. I don’t know if it’s really a thing. But, I want to be a reader. I want to improve in my reading skills. I want to become a famous singer. I improve on both of those by reading more and more every day and singing outloud continuously even though it annoys mommy and daddy. People at school ask me 'why do you sing so much?' I tell them I love to sing. "

And now..a few questions to lighten the mood...

Dogs or Cats?

"Die hard dog fan. Cats are cute but like...just, I don’t want to have to take responsibility for cleaning the litter box. (makes barf sound). They literally dig a hole, do their business and then cover it back up. "(barf sound)

Cheeseburgers or Salad?

"YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH TO EXPRESS MY LOVE FOR CHEESEBURGERS." *Breaks into “Oh Tennebaum with made up lyrics of Oh Cheeseburger.

Beach or Mountains?

"Hmm..Well. I like both. Beaches because I like to boogie board. Mountains because SNOW. 2nd of all, they're really pretty."

Sweet or Salty?

"Sweeeet. Oh my goodness. I love ice cream. Cake. Candy. I love sweet in general. I was hiccuping once and I ate a packet of sugar..and I loved it. "

Lose all of your old memories or never make new ones?

"That's a tough question. I honestly don’t know. It is seriously a tough question. But I think I’m going to go with never make new ones."

Disney..or is there any alternative?

"I’m going to go with both. I love Disney...but I like Dreamworks, Universal, Sony, Dc." (Okay..ad for all production studios).

What is a fun fact that someone may not know about you?

"I am the only person in my family who LOOOOOOOVES mint. "

And the final two important questions...

What is a common misconception about you that people make based on your appearance? What is your truth and how do you personify strength?

"I think people tell me that I look more like my mom but that’s not true. (Cue mommy laughing). My truth is that I look more like my dad. "🙄

You have inspired me. What about yourself do you hope to put out in order to inspire other young people?

"That you are not alone in this world. There are many people to support you and that your family and your friends will always support you decisions on how you run your life and how you want it to flow. They might not always agree, but they will support you. "
