For those of you that are meeting me as of recent, singing has always been my first passion. My dream is/was to be on Broadway but things shifted a bit after I had children. For years, I sang with an acapella group that performed at Disney and private parties. I had the opportunities to meet lots of wonderful people being in the group. Alex was also a member of the same singing group and although I never sang with her, I'd see her in photos on social media and wonder who this was? I asked one of other altos..."Who is this?" "Oh! That's Alex. She only sang one year but she's really good. You two would get along well." One evening, a mutual friend was hosting a party. Arriving fashionably late due to her serving shift at a local restaurant, the back door slid open and in walked this bubbly and effervescent blonde with a great laugh. One by one, she made her way around the room. Before she came to my side of the room, I asked the same alto, "Who is that?" In a moment of deja-vu, she responded-"Oh! That's Alex. She was only in the group one year but she's really good. You two would get along well." As she walked up to our group, the first thing I noticed was just how stunning this girl was even closer up. She had a smokey voice and a vibrant smile. "Hi! I'm Alexandra! What's your name?" As predicted my alto friend, we actually did get along really well and planned a time to hang out in the future. Our first get together was surrounded by our mutual passion-music. With another friend (who will also be featured this month!) we sang as a trio and had the best time. Over the next few years, she has really become someone who I absolutely adore. She would come to see me perform with the acapella group and my family and I always love going and watching her and her band. She is loyal, kind and has a great heart. My girls love her and every time we go out, I know we're going to have a great time.
I had to ask her to be a part of this project because she is a shining example of making it happen and always pushing forward no matter what. Despite setbacks, this spring she is graduating with her BA. She starts grad school in the fall and I know she will charm and succeed the journey ahead. Congratulations, Alex! Thank you for being such a great friend. You are a Queen.

What are you currently doing with yourself?
"Graduating from CSUF in May and going to grad school in the fall. Serving and bar tending and singing with my band, 3 forks junction."
Are you where you hoped you would be? If not/ Why? If so-what do you love about it and could you see yourself doing anything else?
"Oh my god! Umm, no. I am not where I thought I would be at 30 years old. Life happens and it doesn’t always go as planned. I thought I would be a mother by now but I'm too young. I am. I feel too young. Could I imagine it being anything else? Yes. But why would I do that?"
Women are becoming a resilient sound that cannot be silenced. What are you doing to contribute that sound?
"I do what I want. It’s true. If I don’t want to do something, I’m not gonna do it. I want to be able to contribute to my household and I don’t want to be dependent on anyone else."
What is something you learned from a younger age that has stuck with you?
"To not let people take advantage of you and to stick up for yourself. Don’t be a pushover."
Who is an individual who made a profound impact on you and why?
"My grandma, Stella because she overcame a lot in life. She had a lot of heartache and issues but still continued to pursue her dreams."
What is a weakness or something that exposes your vulnerability and what do you do to combat/embrace it in order to grow?
"I am very anxious and sensitive. I have to tell myself to breathe and I meditate. Meditation helps with my anxiety."
What is something that you want to accomplish and what are you doing to get to that place, if anything?
"I want to become a teacher and specialist for deaf and hard of hearing children. I am attending grad school in the fall."
And now..a few questions to lighten the mood...
Dogs or Cats?
"Both. I can’t say one or the other."
Cheeseburgers or Salad?
"Salad. I love cheeseburgers but they make me sick."
Beach or Mountains?
"Beach. I love the mountains."
Sweet or Salty?
"Sweet but I love vinegar."
Lose all of your old memories or never make new ones?
"Lose all my old memories...for sure."
Disney..or is there any alternative?
What is a fun fact that someone may not know about you?
"I love elephants trunks up. If you look around my place, you can see. (There are elephants, literally everywhere). Funnily enough, I’ve never purchased any of these. They are all gifts."
And the final two important questions...
What is a common misconception about you that people make based on your appearance? What is your truth and how do you personify strength?
"People think that I am country girl and I'm not. I didn’t listen to country until I was 12 years old. I grew up in a predominately Hispanic community and love the spicier things in life. I guess another thing could be that maybe that people mistake my friendliness for flirtation? I care about people and I see the good in all. I want the best for everyone."
You have inspired me. What about yourself do you hope to put out in order to inspire other young people?
"Follow your heart and do what makes you happy."
